The Stellar-12 or S-12 Recreational Kayak

The Stellar 12' (S12) Recreational Kayak is a great transitional boat. Strong primary stability and excellent tracking with efficient hull lines provide confidence and performance to those who paddle it. The over sized cockpit opening makes it easy to enter and exit. Water tight bow and stern storage compartments have ample storage for day tripping or overnight tours. This is a serious and capable kayak.

...Overall, the Stellar S12 is a great recreational kayak which performs side-by-side with competitors... Ideal for a wide variety of paddler sizes and skills...the finishing on the S12 is exceptional... The defined keel definitely revealed itself on the water as the S12 performed with great speed and efficiency for a twelve foot recreational craft.”

The Stellar-14 or S-14 Touring Kayak

Unlike many other boats of this length, the S-14 has a long water-line andthe speed of a much longer boat. The well-behaved 14-footer has stability and predictability allowing beginners to feel comfortable paddling it. A large hatch in the stern and a smaller front hatch allow for ample storage for day and overnight trips, while the retractable skeg in the stern helps with tracking. Its short length and light weight make it ideal for those who want a high performance boat, but are short on storage space or frequently car-top their boat.

The thing that I found most surprising (and enjoyable) about the S14 is its stability profile... I had a hard time keeping this kayak off edge because I was having so much fun playing around! The S14 has the speed of a longer boat... Great outfitting with a comfortable cockpit set-up. Light-weight "advantage" lay up is reasonably priced.”

The Stellar-16 or S-16 Touring Kayak

The Stellar 16 (or S-16) Touring Kayak was designed for speed and stability for general ease of paddling and for long distance tours. Stellar designers added a moderate concavity along the keel of the bow and stern to help with tracking in active waters. For windy days and following seas, a drop-down rudder off the stern helps keep your course. Smooth and higher decks allow for a dryer paddle in rough conditions and a large stern and medium bow compartment provide ample storage.

Great all-round value touring kayak... The S16’s hull shape is classic, reminiscent of early West Coast designs—soft chines and a shallow-arch bottom... The end result is a kind of computer-engineered perfection, the optimization of a touring kayak’s various competing requirements—speed, efficiency, stability, carrying capacity, durability, weight and price—in a utilitarian package.”

The hull seemed to catch nearly any wave that was not coming from the front and I can imagine this would be a blast to paddle in big surf...Sprinting I was able to hit 8.6 knots on flat water and 9.2 knots with a small swell, not bad for an 18' ski...”
